This webinar provided an overview of animal infection models commonly used for studies of antibiotics against gram-negative bacteria. The webinar was driven by the COMBINE objective to harmonse and standardise a protocol for a mouse infection model used for efficacy and PKPD studies. The infection model was validated through well-characterised bacterial strains and control compounds in different animal labs. During the webinar we initiated a discussion on pro’s and con’s of various procedures and animal models, aiming to guide which animal infection model COMBINE should focus on.
